What’s New In Soul Singing This Fall?

Oct 22, 2018

Mid-September didn’t just mark the beginning of the new season. We’re less than a month in and we have been drowning in new music for fall!

Yes, the lighthearted summer bops are always enjoyable. But now is prime time for artists to release their new bodies of work, music full of passion, innovative artistry, and… most of all, soul. Quickly following the late summer release of her fourth album Sweetener, Ariana Grande dropped hints earlier this week at already being in the studio working on new music. It was also announced earlier this week that Solange will be releasing her sophomore album later on this season; this album is highly anticipated following the success of her first album A Seat at the Table released in 2016. She revealed in an interview with Times Style Magazine that ‘there is a lot of jazz at the core. But with electronic and hip hop drum and bass because I want it to bang and make your trunk rattle”. This will be a slight shift from the mellow, neo-soul vibe to her debut album, though it is likely to not disappoint!

Divinity Roxx, the well-known bassist and Musical Director from Beyonce’s original all-women band, has been making her way around the country throughout the year performing on her own. She has been sharing her talents touring the country, including a performance at our very own Vocal Workout NYC studio in March earlier this year! She will be making her way back around to stages in New York City later in the month, performing at Rockwood Music Hall on October 24. Don’t miss it this time around. She has, in addition to performing, also begun sharing her talents and musical skill set by curating songwriting workshops with writers in New York City. They are invite-only, curated classes and workshops where Roxx is the teacher herself!

On the topic of new fall music… Vocal Workout presents a new project by their client Shae Brock! Shae Brock is a young pop singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. Her artistry and music is a reflection of her “free-flowing spirit and limitless energy”; and we are proud to have her as a representation of the Vocal Workout Singing Method. Her new single, “Transparency” featuring Gucci Mane recently dropped on October 10. The song is an electronic dance tune that includes Brock’s beautiful vocals, unique percussion, and fun lyricism by Gucci Mane.

Moreover, Vocal Workout is now considered one of the top ten vocal schools in New York City! We are extremely proud to have our unique soul-singing methodology and talented vocal coaches acknowledged in this way. Read more about the method behind our singing lessons here.
